FEATURED PHOTOGRAPHER: Basson Van Zyl

It is astounding to see the sheer number of talented photographers that live or hail from the South African West Coast. However among the multitude of impressive snappers there are a few who stand head-and-shoulders above the rest. One photographer that fits this description is the super talented, Basson Van Zyl.

Basson’s skills are indisputably of an impressively high standard! Every single landscape photograph I have seen of his has a special something that holds me transfixed and in awe of what is possible with a camera. However, what makes him even more exceptional in my eyes is the fact that he is still quite young (26) and has many years to grow and take his work to all new plateaus of brilliance.

What the team loves about his work is the fact that it captures the natural splendor of the diverse West Coast region, in a way that few have been able. We have a multitude of unique environments in this part of South Africa that perpetually transform with the seasons – Basson has the ability to capture the best of each with apparent ease. I must say I am very jealous!

Perhaps my favorite shots of his are the slow shutter shots in his Atlantic Scapes gallery. The motion that they capture really blows my mind. Take a look for yourself and you will see exactly what I mean. They are so ethereal and whimsical…it’s as if they were captured on some distant planet, beautiful!

If you are interested in finding out more about this praiseworthy West Coast photographer, or perhaps would like to procure some of his prints for yourself, please visit the Basson Van Zyl website.
I would love to get my hands on one of these limited edition prints for our office. The problem now is choosing one!

This young man has made a serious impression on us and we look forward to watching how his abilities become more and more refined over the years.
